August 12, 2026

The Firefighter Cancer Cardiac Benefit (FCB) reimbursement program offered through the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is now accepting applications for volunteers and part-time firefighters who were not previously eligible.

As a result of HB24-1219, coverage is mandatory for full-time, part-time, and volunteer firefighters.

DOLA has moved the application program to the Formulaic Portal. All new applications and supporting documentation must now be submitted through this portal.

Applications must be received by September 25, 2026 to be considered for the first wave of funding. Volunteer and part-time firefighter reimbursement will be prioritized first, followed by full-time firefighters as funding allows. A second application period is anticipated to open January 1, 2027.

Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure your firefighters are covered for whatever may come! For more information on how to apply, visit DOLA’s website, or contact either Alacia Isom at alacia.isom@state.co.us or Chris Ockwig at chris.ockwig@state.co.us.

If you have any questions about your eligibility with the Colorado Firefighter Trust, or our program details, email info@cfhtrust.com.
